FEED IN TARIFF UPDATE.

The revised feed in tariff has yet to be ratified, however on the 19th January 2012 Gregg Barker, Energy and Climate Change Minister announced :-
 
"Today we are putting in place a contingency that will bring a 21p (Feed In Tariff) rate into effect from April for installations from March 1st." 
 
The Court of Appeal upheld the ruling that the government cuts to solar subsidies were illegal and accordingly the assumption was that the original Feed in Tariff would be reinstated at 43p per kWh. However this is subject to a further appeal to the Supreme Court , which may take up to twelve months. Accordingly we are assuming a rate of 21p per kWh until an official announcement is made by the Department of Energy and Climate Change.

In spite of the uncertainty, we at Solar Northern are continuing to carry out surveys and offer advice on costs and returns based on the advised 21p tariff, without obligation, for possible action once the actual FIT has been unconditionally confirmed.
